IT Futsal Challenge 2018 Wraps Up. See You Guys in an Ever More Exciting Next Season.
We wrapped up the second edition of IT Futsal Challenge on Sunday (13th May 2018). We are happy that we could wake up techies to the fun of Futsal, a small yet exciting variant of the field football.
The game took place on May 4, 5, 6 and 11, 12, and 13 at the United Sports Centre, Kochi, India. The match was kicked off by P. T. Thomas MLA.
The thrilling tournament brought together sports-loving techies in the region under one umbrella. This year, the game was made smarter with the addition of ‘Women’s Penalty Shoot Out’.
64 Teams and One Passion
The 6 days-long IT Futsal Challenge 2018 witnessed tremendous participation. About 64 teams from various IT/ITES companies of Kerala participated in the event.

Cognizant Technology Solutions and Fingent Technology Solutions won the first and second positions respectively for Women’s Penalty Shootout. Congrats winners!
Women’s Penalty Shoot Out was integrated to give a superb opportunity for women IT professionals to immerse in the joy of football just like their male counterparts. There is no doubt that the latest version was studded with more fun, excitement and team spirit.

Beginning of Futsal
The main motto of Bridge Global is to be a workplace where its employees can be happy and productive. We know that happiness and productivity go hand in hand. We have embraced a unique work culture to ensure this. Our existence revolves around self-organizing teams, who self-organize around opportunities as when they arise.
Our progressive work culture offer dynamic avenues to Bridgys to chase their hobbies and passion. Besides the regular scrum meetings and other technical events, we conduct a host of cultural and sports activities for the Bridgys. All these make us a happy and loveable workplace.
The idea of extending these opportunities to the outside world came as an innovative idea from one of our self-organizing teams. A bunch of go-getters shouldered the responsibility and conducted the first edition of IT Futsal Challenge in 2017. It met with tremendous success. It witnessed a vibrant participation of 32 teams from various IT/ITES companies of Kerala. The huge success of the first season has inspired us to continue the rhythm of sports in a more dynamic manner this year.
The main goal of the Futsal competition is to create awareness about health through sports among IT professionals. We keenly want to infuse the joy of sports and physical activity in their life, which is otherwise occupied with coding and programming. The Futsal competition was an excellent occasion for them to come as a team and pursue their passion at least once in a while.
Drop of Life – A small awareness campaign as part of Futsal
Drop of Life was an exhibition which was being conducted as part of the Futsal championship. It was conceived as social initiative to spread the awareness about the impending water crisis. The visitors got new insights and proper guidance on how to go about preserving water. Dr. C.M. Joy gave a very informative speech on water conservation.
Conclusion
We, Bridgys, are happy because we pursue our hearts. We affirm the age-old saying: ‘healthy mind resides in a healthy body.’ We are glad that we have been instrumental in giving a refreshing break to techies from their tedious job of programming and finding bugs. See you all in a more exciting IT Futsal season next year!
Great!
